On Monday, July 24, 2017, Perest Hodges transitioned from this life to enter into his eternal home in heaven. He was born January 7, 1954 in Durham, North Carolina to the late Everett and Martha Justice Hodges.

“Bird”, as he was affectionately known, started his education at Merrick Moore Elementary and graduated from Northern High School in 1972. In 1979, he enlisted in the United States Army, serving honorably for 24 years, until his retirement in 2003.

Precious memories of “Bird” will forever remain in the hearts of: his wife of 29 years, Rose Hodges; daughters and loves of his life, Tameka S. Palmer of Durham, North Carolina and Natalie Douglas of Columbia, South Carolina; his son, Brandon (Kagal) Wilson of Mons, Belgium; a special daughter, Gayle Palmer; his brother, Harold (Alice) Justice of Lawton, Oklahoma, and sister, Lisa Scarborough of Durham, North Carolina; his only surviving aunt, Mrs. Anne B. (James) Taylor; niece, Cherrona Burfict of Oklahoma, and nephew, Timothy Holmes, Jr.; grandchildren: Ariel, Arnae and Amari Douglas of Columbia, South Carolina, Jesaiah, Mikaela, Christian and Jaiden Wilson of Mons, Belgium; his father-in-law, Jesse Richardson; and special friends: Harry Harvin, David Wall, Rodney Rogers, Ray Knox and Charles Holloway.
