Olin Edwards Jr. was born in Wagner, SC in Aiken County to the late Clarabell Salley Edwards and Olin Edwards Sr. on February 5, 1939.
Olin attended Booker T. Washington High School and was then employed by Blue Ribbon Taxi Cab Company as a taxi driver for more than 40 years. He also worked as a chef at the Sheraton Hotel.
Olin had a passion for cooking, playing his harmonica, and he loved entertaining his grand and great grands by playing his piano and singing. Olin enjoyed spending time with his family.
Olin is preceded in death by his parents; one brother, James Oscar Edwards; and one sister, Bernice Salley Dubard.
Olin is survived by his loving wife of 54 years Dorthey Bright Edwards of Columbia; six children, Joyce Elaine Jacobs of Columbia, SC,Timothy Bernard Edwards (Bathsheeba) of Columbia, SC, Pratihba Sumpter (Jack) of Columbia, SC, Kevin Olin Edwards (Shamaka) of Columbia, SC, Cheryl Diane Urich of Little Rock, Arkansas, and Debra Kay Washington of Fayetteville, North Carolina; three sister in laws, Essie Bright, Marth Hammond (Ike), and Mary Sherman, all of Columbia, SC; 25 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and relatives.
