Mrs. Sims was predeceased by her husband, Thomas Sims; her parents, James and Elease Tyler; a daughter, Sandra Sims; two sisters, Arlene and Tina Tyler; and a brother, MT Tyler.

Those left to cherish precious memories of Myrtis are her five sons: James Sims of Orlando, Florida, Ernest, Thomas (Perrine) Sims and Nathaniel Sims, all of Columbia, South Carolina, and Andre B. Sims of  Washington DC; and five daughters: Varnett (Wallace) Goodwin of Columbia, South Carolina, Juanita Fryer of Seattle, Washington, and Cynthia and Linda Sims, both of Orlando, Florida.
