Matthew Johnson

Mr. Matthey Tony Johnson, better known as a “Toothpick”, departed this life on April 6, 2018. He was born to the late Thomas Jones and Edna Mae Johnson Brown.

He became a member of Second Nazareth Baptist Church at an early age. He attended C.A. Johnson High School. After high school he went on to serve in the U.S. Navy and later returned to Columbia and attended Benedict College. After college, he worked for the Department of Juvenile Justice and Fort Jackson.

Mr. Matthey Tony Johnson leaves to cherish his memories: two sons: Bobby Dickerson, and Tony (Miranda) Mungo; one daughter: Ms. Bettina J. Mungo; two granddaughters: Estasee Jackson, and Kylia Mungo; two grandsons: Maddox Mungo, and Bobby Lee Dickerson; one sister: Debra Jones; one brother: Michael Jones; two nephews: Scorpio Richardson, and William Michael Jones; two longtime friends: Gerald Levvy, and Ivan Goodwin; a very dear and special lady: Ms. Margarete Wright Peterkin; along with a host of other family and friends who will miss him dearly.
