Mary Frances Sims

Mary Frances Blair Sims affectionately known as “Mae” to family and “Frances” to friends. She transitioned from her earthly home to her heavenly home on January 12, 2019 at Pruitt Health Columbia.  Mary Frances was born October 17, 1926 to the late Sallie Blair Wadsworth. She attended the public schools of Greenwood County and during high school relocated to Columbia, SC where she graduated from Booker T Washington High School. After high school she received her certification as a nursing assistant and spent many years in private duty as well as 19 years with the SC Department of Mental Health before she retired. 

She was a long time member of The Greater St. Luke Baptist Church where she was a former active member of the Musical Choir, Seniors, Missionary, and Culinary Ministries. In addition to church Ministries, she was a member of Lodge #112 of the Women’s Home Aid Society, Progressive Tent #3566, OES and The Blythewood Community Ladies Club.  

Frances was always willing to lend a helping hand to others and volunteered at Harvest Home Food Bank for many years. In addition to volunteering, she loved having fun with family and friends as well as tending to some of the most beautiful house plants anyone has ever seen. 

She leaves to cherish her loving memories four aunts, Mollie Blair, Washington, DC Amanda Tompkins, and Clara Blair McCormick, SC, and Eva Blair, Chicago, IL.; devoted cousin and caregiver, Sandra Tompkins, Columbia, SC; close friends Virginia Mitchell and Sarah Malloy and a host of other relatives and friends.
