Mary Harrell Brown

Mary Alice Harrell Brown, affectionately known as “Granny”, was born on December 7, 1937 in Blythewood, SC to the late Reverend Clarence and Louisa Harrell.  She went home to be with the Lord on October 14, 2018, surrounded by her loved ones.

Mary graduated from CA Johnson High School in 1957.  Following graduation Mary obtained her cosmetology license.  On February 6, 1959 she married the love of her life, Harry Edward Brown Sr., with this union they welcomed 5 beautiful children.

Mary loved the game of baseball and going to the Atlanta Braves games with her sisters.  She also loved traveling and shopping.  She also loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.  Mary was an awesome cook and put her talents to use at the Midlands Center and VV Reid School.

She was preceded in death by her 4 brothers and 4 sisters.

Mary will truly be missed by her family and friends.

She is survived by her brother; Thomas (Laverne) Harrell Sr.; sisters:  Alberta Williams, Eleanor Mims, and Martha Gaither: children:  Anthony (Thomasina) Brown Sr., Tammy (Joseph) Major, Mona (James) Gibson, Harry Brown Jr., and Robert (Marsha) Brown; 15 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other living relatives and dear friends.
