Martha Davis Obituary

Sister Martha H. Davis was born March 20, 1923, in Hopkins, South Carolina. She was the daughter of the late Martha Jones and Sam Howell. She departed this earthly life on Thursday, May 24, 2018 at her home. Affectionately known as “Pook”, she always had a smile on her face as she enjoyed cooking, gardening, knitting and caring for her family. She had a loving heart and meek spirit.

Sister Martha H. Davis became a member of Progressive Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ on September 27, 1981, by being baptized in the name of Jesus Christ according to Acts 2:38 and received the Holy Ghost according to Acts 2:4.  She was also a member of the Women’s Auxiliary of the Progressive Church of Hopkins, SC.

Sister Martha H. Davis was preceded in death by her husband, John Stevenson, and her daughter, Bernice Barber.

She leaves to cherish her precious memories, Five sons: Maybank (Ruby) Howell, John Stevenson, John Davis, Lewis Davis, Calvin Davis, Sam Davis; Six daughters: Vermell (James) Chapman, Lucille Davis, Susie Bootent, Sylvialene (Terrance) Brown, Linda Weston and Debra Davis. A host of grand, great grand and great-great-grandchildren, nephews, other loving relatives and caring friends all of whom will miss her dearly.
