Mr. Lonnie Donnell Dickerson was born January 25, 1960 to the late Mr. Lonnie M. Dickerson and Mrs. Mary C. Dickerson in Columbia, SC.
Mr. Dickerson was educated Richland County public schools and graduated from A.C. Flora High School Class of 1978. He matriculated at the University of South Carolina and graduated in 1982 with a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice. After receiving his degree, Lonnie entered the workforce and was employed three years at the South Carolina Department of Corrections. Upon leaving the SCDC, he secured a job with GardaWorld and was an armored truck driver for twenty-four years.
Lonnie confessed Christ at an early age and was baptized at the Zion Baptist Church on Washington Street. He was a member at Zion Baptist Church for years, however in 2014 he united with the Second Nazareth Baptist Church. As a member of SNBC, he regularly attended all services, Sunday School, and bible study. He served faithfully in the brotherhood and transportation ministries of the church, and was active in the City Wide Brotherhood Union.
Lonnie enjoyed eighteen wonderful years of marital bliss with his wife Deborah. He was also an avid sports fan with a great affection for college football, the Atlanta Braves, and various NFL teams.
On Friday, September 14, 2018, Lonnie entered eternal rest and leaves to mourn his passing: Deborah A. Dickerson, one sister in law Alberta (James) Rivers, and a host of nephews, nieces, many other relatives, and caring friends who will miss him dearly.
