For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith. II Timothy 4:6-7

Linwood Bruce Rogers, Sr. born in Durham, North Carolina on March 13, 1945. He was one of eight children born to Woodrow Wilson and Ethyl Louise Patterson-Rogers. He transitioned from this earth into eternal life on November 5, 2018 after a long illness.

He was united in Holy Matrimony to the love of his life on May 08, 1999.

Mr. Rogers attended public school in Durham, North Carolina. He graduated from C. A. Johnson High’s adult night school on June 1, 1979 in Columbia, South Carolina. He also attended one year at Midlands Technical College.

Mr. Rogers entered the United State Army in 1964, where he served in the 1st Infantry until March of 1972. He received an honorable discharge as an SSG-E6. Linwood fought in the Vietnam War (1966-1967), serving in Korea and Germany. He received the National Def Svc Medal, Marksman Medals M-14 rifle, and EXP M-16 rifle, VS Medal, VC Medal and AFE Medal.

Mr. Rogers was employed with Fairfield Chemicals and the Lexington Sheriff Department for a short while. He later joined the King's Laboratory family in Blythewood, SC. This is where he found the career of his love as a Chemical Technician. He enjoyed doing chemical research. He became a certified hazmat worker, received several rewards for dedication and service. He was honored as employee of the year in 1993. He was later transferred in 1999 to Farr Research in Palm Bay, Florida where he retired in 2012.

Linwood accepted Christ and joined Abundant Life Church where he was baptized. He later joined Haskell Heights First Baptist Church in 1998 and served as an Usher before moving to Florida. He joined Grace Bible Sanctuary in Palm Bay, Florida. He was a member of the Men's Ministry and Cleaning Ministry. He re-joined Haskell Height's First Baptist Church after retiring and moving back to South Carolina. He loved the Lord and had great faith in the word.

Linwood enjoyed watching movies and all sports, but football was his favorite. He loved traveling with his wife, working in the yard, having friends and family over or just sitting outside enjoying the weather.

Linwood was a loving, dedicated and devoted husband. He was also a loving father, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, friend and neighbor. Though he is no longer physically with us, his loving and kind spirit will forever live in the hearts of all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Woodrow Wilson Rogers, Ethyl Louise Patterson-Rogers, brother, Ronald Lee Rogers, daughter, Laquoia Rogers.

He leaves to cherish his precious memories; his loving wife of 19 ½ years, Deloris Dinkins-Rogers, son Linwood B. Rogers, Jr. of Palm Bay, Florida, daughters, Cojuanna Rogers-Geiger (Curtis), Likishia Rogers, step-children; Deidre Thompson-Francis, Bobby Thompson, Jr. all of Columbia, SC and Justin Caldwell of Spartanburg, SC. He leaves 17 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren, three sisters, Edna Rogers-McFarly and Deloris Rogers-Jones of Fayetteville, North Carolina. Brenda Rogers-Lawrence (Barney) of Burlington, North Carolina, three brothers, Fred Rogers (Denise), Anthony Rogers (Cathy) of Durham, North Carolina, and Rico Rogers of Fayetteville, North Carolina, mother-in-law Lessie Dinkins of Columbia, SC, brothers-in-law, Robert (Frances) Spigner, and Wilbert Dinkins, sisters-in-law, Flora Cook, Gloria Signer, and Joyce Dinkins, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
