Lillie Jacobs Obituary

OUR ANGEL:  "Though we cry tears of sadness for the loss of our loved ones, so the angels weep tears of joy for the return of theirs."

On Sunday, June 9, 2019, the heavens gained a beautiful angel as Lillie Mae Jacobs departed this life unexpectedly.  Though her life was cut short, Lillie knew the quality of her work in this life would please God, not the quantity.  Lillie was born on April 5, 1958 to Rosa Lee Rhinehart.  While Lillie accomplished many things in life, her greatest title was Mom.  Lillie’s life was enriched by being the limb of her family tree, and breathing life into three children; Chicobi Rhinehart, Dylan Benefield and Niya Jay, whom she raised as a single parent to be strong, responsible and independent individuals.

ACCOLADES:  "I just want to hear him say, well done my child."

Knowing the importance of an education, Lillie excelled in the Richland County School system, graduating from Columbia High School, class of 1975.  She earned an Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education and Criminal Justice from Midlands Technical College. Being a nurturer and loving children, Lillie retired from Richland School District One as a Bus Driver in Columbia, SC.

A TRUE SOUTHERN LADY:  "A golden heart stopped beating, hard- working hands at rest.  God broke our hearts to prove to us that he only takes the best."

Lillie was affectionately known as a God-fearing woman, which exuberated elegance and dignity.  Having a heart of gold, she never met a stranger.  She had a contagious smile, captivating heart and caring spirit.  Lillie loved trying new southern recipes and watching cooking shows on the Food Network channel. Lillie was a pillar of the community, and a link in her family's chain, which will forever be missed.

ADORED AND LOVED BY ALL:  "If we could bring you back again for one more hour or day, we'd express all our unspoken love; we'd have countless things to say."

Forever carrying on Lillie’s legacy, she is survived by three beautiful children, Chicobi (Shiffon) Rhinehart, Dylan Benefield and Niya (John) Jay; five grandchildren, Carter Benefield. John Jay, Jr, Lilliana Jay, Rasheed Rhinehart, and Shicobi  Rhinehart;  Her sister Evelyn Hart, her brother Sammie (Mittie) Burris and her uncle L.C. Kearse; a lifelong friend, Lolita Barber of Hopkins, SC; her beloved nephew Erich Rhinehart of Columbia, SC; and a host of other relatives, friends, nieces and nephews all of whom will miss her dearly.

REUNITED:  "There is a beautiful place where our loved ones await, and they will greet us when our journey here is complete."

Lillie was preceded in death by her mother, Rosa Lee Rhinehart, and her sisters Joyce McFadden, Inez Rhinehart, Margaret Rhinehart, Sarah Mae Rhinehart; her brothers Billy Rhinehart and Johnny Rhinehart..
