Larry Green, Sr. Obituary

Mr. Larry Green, Sr. was born on January 23, 1952, in Lexington, South Carolina. He was the youngest child of the late James O. Green, Sr. and Emma J. Green. He departed this life on Sunday, February 3, 2019.

Mr. Green was educated in the public schools of Lexington, South Carolina and graduated from C.A. Johnson High School Class of 1970. He played an instrumental role as one of the first students to desegregate Lexington High School. Also, he attended Savannah State University and received an Associate Degree from Midlands Technical College. He was a dedicated worker and manufacturing supervisor at Honda of America in Timmonsville, SC before retiring.

He was baptized at an early age and joined New Bethel AME Church and was a faithful member serving in many leadership capacities including Steward Board, President of Pastor’s Aide Club and Class Leader. He loved the Lord and praised Him for bringing him through many trials and tribulations. His favorite scripture was “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me (Philippians 4:13).”

Larry was a man who loved his family dearly and would often talk about his boys along with the love of the Dallas Cowboys and Clemson Tigers. He was married for 43 years to his High School sweetheart Carolyn. He was well known for his ability to dance in his younger years and had a sharp sense of style for always having his “Sunday Best “primed and ready.

He leaves to cherish his loving memories, his wife, Carolyn Green; two sons, Larry Green, Jr., of Lexington, South Carolina; Miguel (Valarie) Green of Chicago, Illinois; brothers, James O. Green, Jr. of Lexington, South Carolina, Willie David (Virgie) Green of Lexington, South Carolina; sister, Mary Louise Stokes-Clark of Lexington, South Carolina; 3 grandchildren, Larry Green, III of Lexington, South Carolina, Miguel (MJ) Green, II and Avery Noelle Green both of Chicago, Illinois; and a host of nephews, cousins, and other family and friends that will miss him dearly.
