Kenneth Deas Obituary

“I’m at peace at last you see, for my Father, He has rescued me.  So find your peace in Him and you will see, He’s God that will rescue thee.  So please don’t cry and mourn for me, for I’m at rest eternally.”

Kenneth Gerald Deas was born on October 21, 1950 to the late Rosa D. White.  He peacefully departed this life to be with our Lord and Savior on Thursday, November 8, 2018.

Kenneth G. Deas, or “Chip” as family and friends affectionately knew him, was educated in the public schools of Richland County.  He was a proud graduate of the 1968 Class of Booker T. Washington High School and was a member of the Booker T. Washington Foundation.  He was a dedicated employee of Estes Freight Line until retirement.

Kenny was truly a remarkable man of God. At an early age, he gave his life to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  As a child, he joined Second Union Baptist Church where he was a faithful member, usher, former trustee and a member of the Men’s Ministry.

Kenneth was a loving son, father, brother, uncle, cousin and friend.  He was extremely compassionate and would always put the needs of others ahead of his own. If you needed help in any way, he would always be there. He never looked for anything in return and was content being the kind, loving, obedient man of God that he was.

Kenneth leaves to cherish his precious memories one son, Terry Deas of Columbia, SC; two daughters Kenneva (Andre) Williams of Columbia, SC and Angela (Wilmer) Melton of Kannapolis, NC; five grandchildren Tevin Deas, Ladrea Williams, Trey Melton, Braden Williams and Terry Deas Jr.; four sisters Dorothy Gilbert of Savannah, GA, Linda (Ronald) Hollis, Glenda (Booker) Lang all of Columbia, SC and Hattie (Felix) Cummings of Tobacco, MD; one brother Joseph (Ingrid) Deas of Jacksonville, FL; one aunt Hattie Marley of Columbia, SC; one uncle Woodrow Adams of Columbia, SC and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends whom will miss him dearly.

Kenneth was preceded in death by his mother Rosa D. White, sister Gwendolyn Joan Deas, brother Michael Knox, nephew Torrey Hollis.
