Juanita Felder Martin was born December 18, 1932, in Cayce, South Carolina. She was the beloved daughter of the late Peter and Odessa Felder. She departed this life on Thursday, January 3, 2019 at Providence Hospital in Columbia, South Carolina.
“Aunt Pie,” as she was affectionately known by many attended Booker T. Washington High School. She attended nursing school at Good Samaritan Waverly Hospital. She faithfully worked at Fort Jackson Moncrief Army Hospital from 1966 until her retirement in 1993. She was married to Andrew Thomas Martin, affectionately known as “Turk” for over 50 years.
Momma was a dedicated member of Gunter’s Chapel Baptist Church and a lifelong Dallas Cowboys fan.
Mrs. Martin was involved in various community organizations such as Purposed Women with Power, Ward One Reunion Organization, Capital City Cowboys Fan Club, Page Turner’s Book Club and Booker T. Washington Alumni Association. She was the founder and a past President of the Gunter’s Chapel Nurses Auxiliary. She was also a Past President of the Columbia Christian Health Nursing Association.
Those left to cherish fond and precious memories are her devoted children: Andrew T. (Carolyn) Martin. Grandchildren: Jacobe Martin, Marcus Martin, Andrew T. Martin III, Naya T. Martin. Special daughters: Alice Kendall and Loretta Burl. Four nephews: Clement, Eric, Freddie and Larry; five nieces: Ann, Crystal, Shirley, Barbara and Ella; and, a host of other special relatives and friends.
