Mrs. Josephine G. Bouknight was born July 13, 1949, in Columbia, SC. She was one of eight children born to the late Raymond and Nellie Mae Gantt. Josephine departed this life at her home, Sunday, May 13, 2018.

Mrs. Bouknight, affectionately known as Josey, was educated in the public schools of Richland County. She united in holy matrimony to the late Matthew Bouknight, and to this union 3 children were born.

Josephine was employed with Richland School District One as a Data Analyst, from which she retired after over 30 years of service.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Matthew Bouknight, and her son Matthew LaMar Bouknight.

Josey leaves to cherish her precious memories, her daughter: Sheila Davis of Columbia, SC; son: Cory J. (April) Bouknight of Camden, SC; brothers: Raymond O. (Bonnie) Gantt of Hopkins, SC, Earl V. (Evangelist Laura) Gantt of Columbia, SC, Jerome D. (Barbara) Gantt of Irmo, SC, and Marvin L. Gantt; sisters: Andrena (Albert) McNeill of Irmo, SC, and Valerie G. (Vernon) Jackson of Columbia, SC; mother-in-law: Maggie Johnson; brother-in-law: Frank Bouknight; sisters-in-law: Ella Mae Allen, Michelle Bouknight Hart, Lisa Amanda Johnson; 12 grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends, all of whom join the family in sharing the grief cause by her departure.
