Jannie Hampton

Mrs. Jannie L. Hampton, born September 25, 1919, to the late Mrs. Ida Lewis and Mr. Abraham Lewis in Caw Caw, Calhoun County, SC. She went home to be with the Lord at the age of 99, Friday, October 12, 2018. 

Married to the late Mr. Matthew Hampton, she is survived by one sister, Mrs. Villa Dean Anderson, four daughters, Mrs. Pernell Staley of St. Matthews, SC; Mrs. Lizzie (Delroy) MCsam of Centerville, GA; Ms. Ernestine Hampton of New Lenox, IL; and Mrs. Delores (Albertus) McDowell, of Columbia, SC, as well as one son, Mr. Andrew Hampton of Baltimore, MD. Left to mourn too are 22 Grandchildren and a host of Great grands, nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Mrs. Hampton worked many years at the Carol Anne Dress Shop in New York as a retail associate, but remained a life-long member of Mt. Pisgah AME Church of St. Matthews, SC. She spent the latter days of her blessed life at Rice’s State Assisted Living.

She was a devout Christian, saved and filled with the precious Holy Ghost. Her earthly presence will be missed, loved, and cherished by all.
