James Chapman was born August 28, 1933 in Eastover, South Carolina to the late Elijah Chapman and Julia Gilmore. He departed this earthly journey Saturday, July 7, 2018 at Palmetto Health Richland in Columbia, South Carolina.
James was educated in the public schools of Richland County.
He was employed for several years for Ms. Ronnie Newton, Dr. Richard Sasnett, and Mr. Ken Powell. He was known for beautifying yards around the Columbia area.
James was a very loving and giving person. One of his favorite pastimes was making phone calls to family and close friends.
James was preceded in death by his parents, sisters: Susie Bolton, Elizabeth Banham, and Viola Davis; and brothers: Butler Chapman, Charlie Chapman, Elijah Chapman, and Clarence Chapman.
Mr. James Chapman leaves to cherish his precious memories: two sisters: Mae Bell Chapman of Clanton, PA, and Frances Fortaine of Duquesne, PA; nieces: Patricia (Henry) Johnson, Vivian (Edward) Smith, Dorothy (Peter) Shiver, Mary Bookert, Gail Branham, Sheryl Branham, Marcia Goodwin, and Eloise Tyler; nephews: Silas Branham Jr., Terry Branham, and Rogers Branham; a host of other nieces and nephews that he loved dearly, a host of great nieces and nephews, a very special friend Ronnie Newton, two others: Troy Herbert, and Tasha Miller, and other family and friends, all whom will miss him dearly.
