Hazel Mae Wright

Hazel Mae Wright was born on May 5, 1942 in Sumter, SC to Janie Robinson and Hazel Robinson of Sumter, SC and passed away peacefully at Providence Hospital on March 31, 2019.

She spent most of her years helping people as a social worker in Richland and Lexington Counties. After many years of working, Ms. Hazel Wright retired on August 10, 2001.

Hazel attended school at Lincoln High in Sumter, SC and later Benedict College where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration.

Hazel was preceded in death by her husband, Staff Sgt. James Wright of Greensboro, NC; mother, Janie Robinson; father, Hazel Robinson; brothers, Francis Robinson, James Miller, and Nathaniel Robinson; and sister, Amy Oree.

Hazel is survived by her children: Joni G. Wright and Jimmie A. (Angela L.) Wright, both of Columbia, SC; grandchildren, LaCrishyma Q. Wright and James M. Wilson, of Columbia, SC, and Dakari A. Wright of Greensboro, NC; great-grandchildren, Malayziah Etheredge, Zion and Memphis Suber of Columbia, SC; sisters, Ola Niblock of Columbia, SC, Virginia Washington, Mildred Potts, and Percilla Billie of Eastover, SC; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
