Gerald Lewis Brown, affectionately known as “Thissel,” was born April 11, 1959 in Columbia, South Carolina to the late James Benjamin and the late Julia Andrade. He passed away at the age of 58 on Friday, September 29, 2017 at Palmetto Health Richland Hospital.

Gerald was educated in the public schools of Richland County, South Carolina. He attended Waverly Elementary and A. C. Flora High School. At an early age, he attended Jones Tabernacle Holiness Church where he was baptized.

He worked as a landscaper, which was his passion. He also worked as a cook for the past few years.

Gerald was passionate about helping and caring for people as best he could, and he would go out of his way to do so. He often gave out of the little he had. He had a favorite saying when he agreed with you – it was “Yes indeed!”

He leaves to cherish his memories: Two brothers - Milton (Gloria) Brown and Raymond Brown both of Columbia, South Carolina, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other loving relatives and dear friends; and his Bethel Bishop family. All will miss him dearly.
