George Hunter, III

George Alfred Hunter, (everyone called him Alfred), was born August 5, 1961, to the late George W Hunter Jr and Nancy Williams Hunter.

He was raised in Sumter County and graduated from Hillcrest High School in 1980. After high school, he went to Washington DC for a few years, and then he moved to New York City where he met the love of his life, his wife Rosena Bennett, in 1989. They lived in Detroit MI, Fayetteville NC, Sumter SC; and finally settled in West Columbia. They were together for 14 years before marrying in 2003. After marrying they joined the St James Baptist Church in West Columbia, where Alfred served on the Men’s Choir and the Trustee Board. Over the years he worked at numerous construction companies, and also had his own business in lawn care. He was also a “handyman” and provided handyman services to all of his family in Columbia. He could be counted on to do what he was asked.

He leaves to cherish his precious memories, his wife, Rosena, brothers, Leroy and James Hunter, numerous aunts and uncles, cousins, and friends. He was loved by all and always had a smile when he was with family and friends, and he will be truly missed,
