Ms. Ella Dean Boular, affectionately known as Deanie was born March 24th, 1938 to Ezel and Daisy Dreher Boular in State Park, South Carolina. She was the younger of two children. She dedicated her life to the Lord at an early age at Zion Canaan Baptist Church. She was educated in the public schools of Richland County, South Carolina. Ms. Boular graduated from C.A. Johnson High School in Columbia, South Carolina in 1955. She went on to pursue a bachelor's degree in Education at Benedict College. She graduated from Benedict College in 1959 and went on to pursue a master's in education from the South Carolina State University. She was inducted into the Benedict College Half-Century Club in 2009.
Ms. Boular began her rewarding career as an educator at Burgess Landrum School in Millen, Georgia. She went on to teach at the historic schools, Lexington Rosenwald Elementary, McCrorey Liston Elementary, and Gordon Elementary in Fairfax County, South Carolina. Ms. Boular's career in education occurred during segregation and continued during the troubles of integration in South Carolina schools. She later left education and pursued a long prosperous career at Allied Chemical, where she retired after 20 years.
Ms. Boular love the outdoors and could often be found gardening or planting flowers and plants. She enjoyed socializing and spending time with classmates and friends. She spent many days with her grandchildren. She loved driving them and their friends to recreational activities including swimming, band practices and performances.
Ms. Boular is preceded in death by her father and mother Ezel and Daisy Dreher Boular and grandson Jaden Buckley. Ms. Ella leaves to mourn her passing: one sister, Ezelma Ruth (Lloyd) Watkins of Columbia, SC; three children, Felicia Abigail Mack (Curtis) Hopkins, Eddie Mack Jr, and Kevin Ezel Mack, all of Columbia, SC; four grandchildren, Curtis (Malaika) Hopkins II, Terrill (Hope) Hopkins, Christina Hopkins, and Daniel Hopkins, all of Columbia, SC; eight great-grandchildren; Terrill Hopkins, Iyanna Hopkins, Laniya Hopkins, Layla Hopkins, Curtis Hopkins III, Jordan Buckley, Teagan Hopkins and Kadan Hopkins, all of Columbia, SC, two special "little" sisters, Sarah Dreher Canty and Victoria (Vicki) Anderson Ingram, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and caring friends.
