Earlene Burrell Obituary

Mrs. Earlene Burrell was born April 3, 1935 in Columbia, SC. She was the beloved daughter of the late Sam and Mamie Gadsden. She was called home to glory on July 27, 2018 at Providence Hospital in Columbia, SC.

Earlene graduated from C.A. Johnson High School in 1955. She was a dedicated member of Bethlehem Baptist Church where she served 38 years on the senior usher board until her illness. In 1997 she received the Woman of the Year award and in 2016 she received the Octogenarian Plus Honoree award. Earlene retired from Richland County School District One Food Service after 25 years.

Earlene was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother that always enjoyed a good laugh and cooking. She was married to the late Edward Burrell for 52 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, son, Rickey Burrell, sisters, Dorothy Kennedy, Lillie Medlock, and Brother Heyward Gadsden.

Mrs. Earlene Burrell is survived by her loving children: Mamie Burrell, Andrena (Trent) Barr, Michael (Thelma) Gadsden, all of Columbia, SC and Steven (Yvonne) Burrell of Killeen, TX; her daughter-in-law, Patricia Burrell of Sumter, SC; 11 grandchildren, 17, great-grandchildren, and a host of other loving relatives and friends all whom join the family in sharing the grief caused by her departure but rejoice that she is resting with the Lord.
