Doris Davis Obituary

Mrs. Doris Carol Jordan Davis was born September 19, 1946 and was the eldest daughter of the late Reverend Wilbert M. Jordan and Mrs. Dorothy M. Simons Jordan.  She was united in holy matrimony to the late Mr. Leroy Davis of Bartow, Florida. She departed this life on May 11, 2018.

Doris Carol Davis was educated in the public schools of Richland County, South Carolina and was a 1965 graduate of Webber High School in Eastover, South Carolina. She pursued higher education studies at Voorhees College in Denmark, South Carolina. She was employed at The University of South Carolina in the Psychology Department as the Graduate Admissions Secretary, where she retired after thirty-two years of faithful service. She was a strong advocate for the students in the psychology department. After retiring from USC, she embarked on a journey to earn certification as a Paralegal and was successful, receiving her certification October, 2006 from Kaplan University.

Mrs. Davis joined Antioch A.M. E. Zion church at a young age and was an avid and faithful member until her passing. In her youth, she was a member of the musical choir with a beautiful tenor/baritone voice. She would often turn hymns into her own rendition, replacing words for her meaning of the hymn.   As she matured in her walk with the Lord she became a member of the missionary society, the women’s ministry, and the Senior Choir, where she served as President. She served other congregations in our episcopal district as she traveled with her sister, the pastor of those churches.
