Denise Lawson Obituary

Denise Renee Lawson born on October 9, 1964 in Washington, DC, went to be with the Lord on June 4, 2019 in Columbia SC. Her parents are Wayne T. Morgan Sr (deceased), and Dorothy Richardson-Funchess.

She grew up in Fairfax Village in Washington, DC. She graduated from Largo High School in June of 1982. She met Timothy Allen Lawson on Andrew Air Force Base in Ft. Washington, MD were she later married him on April 15, 1992 in Orangeburg, SC. They were later stationed in Okinawa, Japan where she worked for the Department of Defense Dependents Schools as a Secretary from (1992-1995). She worked for Naval Aviation Depot as a Supply Clerk in Cherry Point, NC from (1995-1996). She worked as a Home Manager from 2004-2009; 2010. Some of her accomplishments while working with the government include receiving the US Marine Corps Certificate of Appreciation in (1996, 2001, 2002); the Revision of DoDDS-Pacific Preparation of Correspondence Manual in (1995); and the MALS-36 Key Volunteer Certificate of Appointment in (1994). In her spare time, she volunteered as a Court Advocate in the Onslow County Women's Shelter in Jacksonville, NC from (1999-2002). She also volunteered to raise funds for the American Heart Association in (2002) in Jacksonville, NC. She received her A.A.S., degree in Medical Assisting at ECPI University in 2012, maintaining a 3.5/4.0 GPA. She was a member of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society and also was on the Dean's List in (2009) and (2010).

While attending Shiloh Pentecostal Church in Jacksonville, NC, Denise, a woman of God, was a Children's Church teacher. Her hobbies included traveling, shopping, being creative with her arts and crafts, and spending time with her family.

She is preceded in death by her father, Wayne T. Morgan, Sr.

She leaves her precious memories behind with her family and friends. She is survived by her husband, Timothy Allen Lawson, Sr.; mother, Dorothy Richardson-Funchess; her brother, Wayne T. Morgan, II; sons, Joseph Austin, Jr., Quentin (Kimberly) Austin, Sr., and Timothy Allen Lawson Jr. She has a total of seven grandchildren ranging from the ages of 15 - 2 years old.
