Mrs. Cora Clemons was born January 10, 1926 in Newberry, SC. She was the daughter of the late John W. Salters and Fannie Mayes. She departed this life at NHC-Parklane, Columbia, SC on Tuesday, October 23, 2018.
Cora accepted Christ at an early age and was a faithful member of Zion Pilgrim Baptist Church. There she was the Missionary President and served on the Jubilee Choir for 25 years. In March of this year, she was appointed as an honorary member. She was also a dedicated member of the Johnsonaires until retiring in recent years. She lived in New York for a brief period of time working as a Nurse Aide before returning back to South Carolina and working as a Home Aide for many years.
Cora enjoyed baking, fishing, traveling, but most of all singing for the Lord. She loved her family and friends unconditionally and always had an encouraging message to share. Cora was a loving and devoted grandmother, aunt, and friend. Though she is no longer physically with us, her loving and kind spirit will forever live in the hearts and lives of all those who loved and knew her.
Cora was preceded in death by her parents and her only son Marion Williams.
Those left to cherish her memories are a loving granddaughter, Monica Williams; two great-grandchildren, Destiny and Desmond Williams; one great-great grandchild, Amari McDonald; a daughter-in-law, Cathy Williams; a lifelong friend, Sallie Johnson; devoted friends and family, Minister Alyse Boyd, Pastor Judy Taylor, Isaiah Green, Mary Williams and Gail Green; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other loving relatives and friends.
