Clyde “Ruddy” Delaney Jr. was born on October 8, 1954, in Columbia, SC to the late Mr. and Mrs. Clyde & Hattie Delaney Sr. The sunset on his beautiful life on June 12, 2019.
Ruddy attended Richland County Public Schools, where he graduated from A.C Flora High School, class of 1972. He then became a “Sailor” in the U.S Navy, where he served our country for 4 years during the Vietnam War. After serving, he moved back to Columbia where he attended Columbia Commercial College where he studied data processing and accounting.
In 1981, he met his best friend Ida “Dolly” Delaney and they began their love journey. On May 19, 1991, they exchanged vows, got baptized, and gave their lives to Christ on the same day.
Throughout his life, Ruddy touched the lives of many no matter the age, race, or religion. As a member of the Village of Hope Fellowship Church, he enjoyed being Deacon Delaney, serving on the Usher Board and off-key singing on the men’s choir (lol). He loved spending time with his family, working around the house, and collecting all kinds of unneeded items (lol).
He was famous for his beer infused grilled chicken, talking smack about the Gamecocks, and being a die-hard Oakland Raiders fan.
In addition to his parents, Clyde was preceded in death by his sister Paula and brother Phillip Delaney.
Those left to cherish his precious memories are: His loving wife Ida Mae Delaney; His children: Isaac and Monetia Lewis, William and Haley Lewis, Ben and Kimberly Martin, Karlena Martin, Dionne and Desman Wilks; Siblings: Dale Delaney, Lorenzo “Duke” Delaney, and Sandra Delaney; Aunt Rozill Lindsay, 16 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, 5 nieces, 5 nephews, and a host of other loving relatives and friends turned family.
