Cleo Harris Obituary

There is an inevitable hour of peace that comes to everyone that hour came to Cleo Davis Harris, she made transition into Life on January 22, 2019.

She was preceded in death by her sons, twins, Alzo and Alfozo Ashford, her mother, Mary Davis, brother, Sherman Davis, Jr., nephew, John H. Richardson, father Sherman Davis, sister, Alice Davis White, and her husband, Frampton Harris.

She was born Cleo Davis on February 5, 1925 in Fairfield. She was educated in Fairfield County School System. She married John W. Ashford and to this union three children were born; a set of twins, Alzo and Alfoza and (Baby) Helen. As a young lady she moved North and traveled. She later moved back to Columbia, SC and became a caregiver to many family members and others. Cleo joined Central Baptist Church and was a faithful member until she was no longer able to attend service. While at Central, she sang with the Golden Voice Senior Choir. She loved the Lord and praised him to the highest. She was a life time member of the Disabled Veteran Auxiliary Chapter 20, serving as Chaplain. She volunteered many hours at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center which she enjoyed. Most of all, she enjoyed telling stories about her life, and traveling.

She was a peace maker and a peace keeper, always thinking of others, loving, giving, helping wanting nothing but the best for others. She never grumbled nor complained. Whatever you did for her, she always thanked you, no matter how big or small. Most of all she loved her family and friends. She had a giving heart, A heart of Gold.

She leaves to cherish her loving memories, daughter, Helen L. Michael; two grandsons, Tony M. Michael, and Travir L. Michael both of Columbia, SC; niece, Bonnie Ellison of Columbia, SC; nephew, Thomas (Ciely) White of Spartanburg, SC; niece, Sherlann (Joe) Smith of North Carolina; step mother, Ruth Davis of Columbia, SC; adopted son, Mark Redmond of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; adopted daughter, Liz Hunter of Columbia, SC; and a host of cousins, god children, and other family and friends.
