Audrey Renee Leaphart-Gownes

Mrs. Audrey R. Leaphart Gownes was born February 20, 1966 in Columbia, South Carolina. She was the oldest child of the late James “Wesley” Leaphart and Beverly Ann Davis. She departed this life on Sunday, March 11, 2018.

Audrey was educated in the public school system of Richland County, South Carolina. She continued to work at the Whitney Hotel until her health declined.

She was an amazing mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, auntie, and friend. She balanced her many hats effortlessly and wore them with such grace. She loved riding out on the town with her daughter, dancing and watching sports. The Carolina Panthers was her favorite team.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Stesha Leaphart.

Her memories will be cherished by her husband Gary Gownes of Columbia, South Carolina; son: Oddessy Leaphart of Columbia, South Carolina; daughter: Beverly Leaphart of Columbia, South Carolina; brothers: Wesley (Mary Ann) Leaphart of Columbia, South Carolina and Keith Leaphart of West Columbia, South Carolina; stepmother: Margaret Leaphart of West Columbia, South Carolina; stepsisters: Gale (Eddie) Odom, Tracey (John) McCray of Gaston, South Carolina; stepbrothers: Dale (Michelle) Jeffrey of Fairfax, Virginia, Johnney Jeffrey of Columbia, South Carolina; Aunts: Mary (Kenneth) Williams of Columbia, South Carolina, and Doris and Mattie Leaphart of Lexington, South Carolina; Uncles: Vernon (Valorie) Davis of Charlotte, North Carolina, James Robinson of Columbia, South Carolina, and Sherman Leaphart of Lexington, South Carolina; seven grandchildren, and a host of other relatives, and friends of whom will miss her dearly.
