Mr. Anthony Earl Samuels, born on September 22, 1956, entered Eternal Rest on Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at Providence Health Hospital. Born in Richland County, he was the eldest son of the late Mrs. Edna Holston Spearman and the late Mr. Earl Samuels of Columbia, SC.
Mr. Samuels is a graduate of C.A. Johnson High School. He attended Midlands Technical College and completed Norfolk Southern Corporation's Railroad University in McDonough, Georgia. He became a well-respected locomotive engineer where he gave 28 years of service before retiring in 2006.
"Tony," as he was affectionately called, was a Clemson fan who enjoyed teasing his ex-wife, Jeanette a USC graduate, about his love for the tigers. An avid deep-sea fisherman, he was also a master chef on the grill. He had a contagious laugh and loved sharing his bounty and culinary talents. Traveling was another passion as well as carpentry, collecting African art, and dressing sharp. Seeds were planted at Second Nazareth Baptist Church in Columbia and he was ordained as a deacon at Platt Springs Baptist Church in Congaree, South Carolina. He was also quite the handyman, a trade learned from Uncle Joe.
Those celebrating his life and precious memories are his two sons, Brandon Terrell Samuels and Quinton Levester Samuels, of West Columbia, a sister, Enid Samuels, of Columbia, SC, a brother, Myron Samuels, of Columbia SC, a grandfather, Mr. Levester Spearman of Flossmoor, Illinois, an uncle, Mr. Joseph Holston, (Patricia) of Columbia, SC, an aunt, Alemitta Holston of Camden SC, and a host of relatives and friends.
