Anthony Goodwin Obituary

Anthony Tony “Amp” or “Fish” Goodwin

Anthony Tony Goodwin was born on Sunday, September 2nd, 1962 at Richland County Hospital in Columbia, South Carolina to his now deceased father, US Air Force Veteran Curtis Goodwin of Orangeburg, SC and his now deceased mother, Bessie Louise Kelly – Goodwin of Mullins, S.C.  On Wednesday, August 7th, 2019, while in Lexington Hospital in Lexington, SC, God called our dear brother, whom we so lovingly called “Amp”, home.  He was a Christian Believer and had long ago accepted our Lord Jesus Christ as his personal savior.  Therefore, we are rest assured that he now dwells with his Heavenly Father.

Anthony, affectionately known as “Amp or Fish”, was raised in Columbia, SC where he attended Carver Elementary School, W. A. Perry Middle School, and C. A. Johnson High School in the graduating class of 1980.  After high school, he attended Fort Valley State University majoring in Criminal Justice.  He also played offensive guard position on the NCAA Division II Wildcats Football Team and in 1984 Amp led the team to a winning record of 8 out of 11 games.  He was a champion body-builder, artist, painter, sculpture, and art designer with much of his art work on display at the FVSU art museum during his tenure.

He worked in Physical Health Rehabilitation in Charlotte, NC and was well-known at AA Appliance Center.  He enjoyed spending time with his family, friends, class-mates, acquaintances.  He also loved meeting new people, having entertaining conversations, telling jokes and making us all laugh.

Anthony leave to cherish his memories:  his loving sisters, US Air Force Veteran Benita - (US Air Force Band Veteran Chuck, brother-in-law) and Yvonne; Best Friends, Aaron Dash & Kevin Parker and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends.  Some of whom are currently serving our country as active-duty military and veterans.

Preceded in his death are his Mother - Bessie Louise Kelly-Goodwin; Father – US Air Force Veteran Curtis Goodwin, Youngest Brother – Sherman Leon Goodwin; Oldest Brother – Aaron Jerome Kelly, Uncle – US Air Army Veteran Samuel Goodwin, US Air Force Veteran Leroy Myers, US Army Veteran Neal Goodwin, Grandmother – Evelyn Myers – Goodwin.

We will always cherish the love you’ve shown towards us.  Thank you for sharing your life with us all and keeping us in stitches!

We request that all attendees to the funeral celebrate Amp’s homegoing by wearing the following colors: C. A. Johnson’s school colors of Green & Gold or Fort Valley State University colors of Royal Blue & Gold or happy bright colors.  However, traditional black is welcomed.  Thank you.

Your Sisters: Yvonne Goodwin and Benita
