Ann Shiver Obituary

Sister Ann Jenkins Shiver was born in Columbia, South Carolina.  She was the beloved daughter of the late Alfonzo Rembert and Queen Jenkins.  On Monday, May 7, 2018, in Columbia, South Carolina, she departed this earthly life and was received by her Heavenly Father.

Ann attended the public schools of Richland County and was a graduate of C. A. Johnson High School.  She continued her education at the University of South Carolina and Midlands Technical College.  Ann retired from Bank of America and most recently from Richland 2 School District (Joseph Keels Elementary School).

At an early age, Ann accepted Christ as her personal Savior.  She was baptized in Jesus’ name according to Acts 2:38 and was filled with the Holy Ghost.  She was a faithful and dedicated member of Progressive Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ for many years where she served faithfully and diligently in many capacities.

Most days you could find Ann running the front office at Keels Elementary, conducting her own pre-interview of potential staff; or you may have even found her giving a “pep talk” to a newly hired Richland County Deputy.  Mrs. Shiver was lovingly known as “Information Station” because she knew most everything, and she knew how to make things happen.  It was common knowledge that you could never say “No” to Ann, because there was something about the twinkle in her eyes that made you say yes.

Mrs. Shiver devoted her life to protecting those she loved, including those in her community.  She served as the Lincolnshire Homeowners Association President and was a “vocal” voice in the community.  She was a pillar of strength to her family and friends.  She would often engage you in a conversation by starting a conversation by saying, “Let me tell you about Dylan”.  Her eyes would sparkle and heart smiled every time she mentioned her beloved grandson, Dylan.  Ann loved people and appreciated good gospel music. She was also a great cook and known for her famous baked turkey wings or melt-in-your mouth chitlins.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandmother, Addie Felder; mother-in-law, Minnie Shiver; and an uncle Isaiah Felder.

Those who will forever cherish her legacy are her loving and devoted husband, Ulysses Shiver of the home; two loving sons, Justin Shiver of Houston, TX; and Brandon (Courtney) Shiver of Columbia, SC; and her precious grandson, Dylan Shiver; her brother, Pete (Brenda) Prioleau; two uncles, Timothy Tucker and Freddie Tucker, a host of loving in-laws, cousins, extended family and a very extensive list of dear friends all of whom will miss her dearly, but will forever treasure the precious memories of “Shivey”.
