Mrs. Amy Louise Jones, lovingly known as “Gran” by family and friends, entered eternal rest and peace, with the Lord on Thursday, July 13, 2017 at Palmetto Health Richland in Columbia, South Carolina. We, the family, bow in humble submission to our Lord’s will, giving thanks for the years we shared in Gran’s life; and will forever cherish the many fond memories and special times.

Gran was born December 10, 1939, the daughter of the late Robert and Carrie Jackson. She was predeceased by her husband, Sumter Jones, and a brother, David Jackson.

Gran was educated in Richland County public schools, earning a high school diploma from Hopkins High School.

Gran was employed by Carolina Children’s Home, retiring from there after many years of dedicated service. Because of her generous caregiver spirit and strong desire to help others, she returned to work for Davis Community Care Home, where she continued serving and helping people for years after her initial retirement.

Gran was a devoted member of the Temple of Faith Bible Way Church, where, because of her exceptional cooking skills, she served with other members of the church to ensure meals were faithfully prepared. Her specialties included biscuits, cornbread and fruitcake. Along with cooking, she enjoyed crocheting, reading her Bible and frequently talking with her children and grandchildren.

Gran leaves to cherish fond memories: her four children: Tommy (Robin) Jones of Florence, South Carolina, Tomeka (Marlon) Scott of Gadsden, South Carolina, Tony (Judean) Jones of Columbia, South Carolina and Tim (Latonya) Jones of Toledo, Ohio; five granddaughters: Jada, Leanna, Grayson, Addison, and Emerson, and four grandsons: Tommy, Timothy, Mitchell and Jackson. She also leaves two sisters, Thomasena (Elijah) Davis and Patricia (Alexander) Morris, both of Columbia, South Carolina; four brothers: John (Lettie), Sam (Rutha), James and Freddie (Amy) Jackson, all of Hopkins, South Carolina; a very special cousin, Martha Brown; and a host of nieces and nephews.
