Mrs. Almetha Jones Walker was born November 17, 1940 in Sandy Run, South Carolina to the late Johnnie and Georgianna Jones.  She departed this life on Monday, July 31, 2017 at the Agape Hospice House of Columbia.

Almetha graduated from C.A. Johnson High School in Columbia, SC in 1959.  On September 14, 1967, Almetha graduated from the Columbia Schools Practical Nurse Program, Columbia Hospital Division.   She began her nursing career at the Columbia Hospital.  Almetha retired from the Williams-Jennings-Bryan-Dorn VA Medical Center after 40 plus years of service as a Licensed Practical Nurse. 

Almetha was united in holy matrimony to Freddie James Walker on June 18, 1959, and to this union five children were born.  She was a dedicated and faithful member of Sidney Park C.M.E. Church where she served as a member of the “Red Hatters” Club, the Mammoth Tea Committee and the Usher Board.

Almetha enjoyed arts and crafts, cooking, out-door camping and travelling. 

Almetha was preceded in death by her loving husband, Fred. 

Mrs. Walker leaves to cherish precious memories in the hearts of her loving family; sons, Stanley (Takako) Walker, Pensacola, FL, Steve (Tamara) Walker, Clinton, SC, Rubin Walker, Belle Meade, NJ; two daughters, Beverly (George) Taylor, Norcross, GA and Kimberly L. Walker, Columbia, SC; one sister, Lizzie Outing, Columbia, SC; two brothers-in-law, Rubin (Dorothy) Walker, Columbia, SC and Alex Sharp of Virginia; one sister-in-law, Sandra Sharp, Columbia, SC; thirteen grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
