Alberta Williams Obituary

A life well lived, Mrs. Alberta Naomi Kennedy Williams entered this earthly realm on May 6, 1934; born to Rev. Clarence and Louisa Harrell in Horrell Hill, South Carolina. Her childhood was full of light and laughter as she was the eighth of twelve beautiful children. Alberta attended the public schools of South Carolina and grew to become a successful seamstress and mother.

Her membership at Temple Zion Baptist is made memorable by her service on the Junior Jubilee and Senior Jubilee Choir, Pastor’s Aide, Missionary Ministry, and her attendance in Sunday School. Alberta loved spending her time at the Farmer’s Market and shopping in pharmacies. She retired from working in the textile industry after 40 years. Alberta was a woman after God’s heart and led a life of service among her family and friends. We will always remember her to be a loving mother and sister who was generous, funny, compassionate and dedicated.

Proverbs 31 asks us, “Who can find a virtuous woman, for her price is far above rubies”. Strength and honor were her clothing and she opened her mouth with wisdom. We rise up, and call her blessed! Our virtuous woman entered into the Lord’s eternal rest on November 22, 2019.

She is preceded in death by her parents and nine of her siblings. Widowed twice; Nesbit Wright Kennedy, Sr. and Melton Williams. Her legacy lives on in the lives of her two living siblings; Herbert (Lavern) Harrell and Eleanor Mims; seven children, Nesbit Kennedy, Jr., Angela (Tillmon) Posey, Earl Kennedy, Ronald Kennedy, Millicent Kennedy, Fran Brown, and Jacqueline (Roston) Knox; 3 step-children, Emilio (Bonnie) Williams, Kevin (Iris) Williams of Baltimore, Maryland, and Tonya Hamlett of Columbia, South Carolina, 9 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; and a multitude of extended family, relatives, and friends.
