Calvin James Brice, Sr., was born Christmas Day, December 25, 1951, in Baltimore, Maryland. He was the beloved son of Lila M. Robertson Brice and the late Reverend James Brice, Sr. On Sunday Morning, April 21, 2024, at his residence, he quietly went home to be with the Lord.
Calvin was educated in the public schools of Fairfield and Richland County and was a graduated of C. A. Johnson High School. After graduation he was united in Holy Matrimony to the love of his life the former Frances Jeanette Lydia Doctor, and to their union two wonderful sons were born, Calvin, Jr., and Andre.
Calvin was first employed with the South Carolina Department of Mental Health at Craft Farrow Hospital as a Mental Health Specialist. He was later employed with the City of Fairfield County from which he retired after many years of dedicated service. Because he enjoyed the outdoors, he went into lawn service, where he worked with Lawson Lawn and enjoyed every moment. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, dancing, and the outdoors. Though he is no longer physically with us, his loving and kind spirit will forever live in the hearts and lives of all of those who loved and knew him.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Frances Jeanette Lydia Doctor Brice.
Those who will forever cherish Calvin’s fond and precious memories are his sons, Calvin James (Alicia) Brice, Jr., and Andre Jerome (Crystal) Brice both of Columbia, SC; stepchildren, Tabitha (Coby) Rivers, Johnathan Brice, and Arthur Brice; eleven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; his loving mother, Lila M. Robertson Brice; his loving sister, Barbara Ann Brice Doctor; caring mother-in-law, Bernice Doctor; brothers-in-law, Roosevelt Doctor Frankie L.
