Cremation

Mrs. Takeko Johnson entered eternal life on December 1, 2017, at 12:24 a.m. at Palmetto Baptist, Columbia, SC. Takeko was born on July 18, 1933 in Yokohama, Japan to the late Tameo and Hisa Sato.

Takeko received her education in Japan.  On December 22, 1961, she married DK Johnson of Coffie County, Alabama in Tokyo, Japan. Out of that union were 3 children: Jun, Michael, and Miyuki.

Takeko was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother and grandmother. She worked as a Machine Operator for Apple Tree Fashions, Columbia SC for many years and a cook for Sakura Japanese Restaurant. She later retired from Sakura Restaurant where she decided to devote more time to her family, grandchildren and great-grands. She also took many, many trips back to her country Japan to visit with her sisters and relatives.

Takeko leaves to cherish her memories a husband, D.K. Johnson of Jacksonville, Florida; 3 children, Jun (Jackie) Johnson of Hawriver, North Carolina; Michael R. (Laurie) Johnson of Jacksonville, Florida; and Miyuki Black of Columbia, SC; 7 grandchildren, Wayland Long of North Carolina; Raphael Latigua of Texas; Atchara Kimbel of Columbia, South Carolina; Jonathan Kimble (deceased); Kiaira Black of Columbia, South Carolina; Kerri Black of Columbia, South Carolina;  and Andre Black Jr. of Columbia, South Carolina; one great-grandchild Carter Black of Columbia, South Carolina; 3 brothers and 1 sister that preceded her in death, Sabro Sato, Shigeru Sato, Toshio Sato, and Sumiko Murakoshi, and 1 sister Shinako Ueno of Yokahama, Japan and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. A special thanks to Andre Black Sr.
