Ruthfine D. AdamsFebruary 25, 1937 ~ November 12, 2017 (age 80)
Ms. Ruthfine D. Adams, very affectionately known as “Boss Lady”, “Boss”, and “Grandma Boss”, was born February 25, 1937 to the late Adam and Williene Odom Wearing. She departed this life on November 12, 2017.
Ruthfine was a very loving and caring mother and grandmother. She was educated in the Richland County public school system. She continued her education at Midlands Technical College, studying Early Childhood Development. She retired from the C.M. Tucker Jr. Nurse Care Center after 25 years of dedicated service. During that time, Ruthfine also worked for Children Limited Care Center.
Ms. Adams was an active member of Community CME Church for more than 30 years. She served on the Usher Board and on the Board of Trustees. She was a devoted member of the Women of Color, where she was highly respected by those around her. She was known to be independent, outspoken, and a woman who embodied wisdom. She shared that wisdom with many people in her life.
In addition to her parents, Ruthfine was predeceased by two sons, Leon Adams, Jr. and Keith Adams.
Ms. Adams leaves to cherish precious memories and special moments, a son, Derald B. Adams; two daughters, Williene “Libby” Adams and Sheila Adams Taylor, both of Columbia, South Carolina; three grandchildren that she raised in her home: R. Denise Adams, Yolanda Kim Adams Cooper, both of Columbia, South Carolina, and Rhonda “Tiny” Adams-Tull of Fort Mill, South Carolina; eleven grandchildren, thirty great-grandchildren, and eleven great-great grandchildren; as well as a host of other loving family and dear friends.
