Ruth Anne Pettway was born January 22, 1945 in Englewood, New Jersey to the late Fred A. Williams and the late Beatrice Minnie Williams.  Ruth Anne departed this life on May 24, 2016 in at Fairfield Nursing Home, Ridgeway, SC.  Ruth Anne was 71 years old.

She graduated from D. White Morrow High School, Englewood, NJ.  She attended the public schools of Englewood, NJ.  Ruth Anne worked for the Post Office in Englewood, NJ.  She retired from General Motors.  Ruth Anne was the first woman hired at General Motors in Englewood, NJ.

Ruth Anne loved singing gospel music and baking cakes.  Ruth Anne loved her family and just having a good time.

She was preceded in death by her father, mother and her only son Kermit Thomas, Jr and her brother Claude Williams.

Ruth Anne is survived by:  her only daughter, Lillian Spearman.  Her grandchildren: Antoine Thomas and Danelle Starks, both of Columbia, SC, Christina Harris, Andarra Romeo and Kavon Major of Englewood, NJ, and Collin Thomas of Texas; four great grands: Octavia Starks, and Giovanni Glover of Columbia, SC and Armani Thomas and Antoine Thomas, Jr of Hackensack, NJ.; one sister:  Lorraine Williams, Englewood, NJ and one brother: Fred (Joan) Williams of Englewood, NJ.  She is also survived by a host of nieces, and nephews and other family and friends.   She will be missed as much as she was loved by her family and friends, who she touched deeply.
