Nadine Deloris Cooper Addison, affectionately known as “Nay,” was born November 25, 1937 in Eastover, South Carolina. She was the beloved daughter of Catherine Carter and James Taylor.  She transitioned to her heavenly home on July 20, 2016 at Providence Hospital in Columbia, South Carolina.

Nadine attended the public schools of Richland County of Columbia, South Carolina. She was happily married to Robert E. Addison for over twenty years. She enjoyed a long career in food service, working as a butcher and meat wrapper for many years.

“Nay” possessed a loving and gentle spirit that touched all who knew her.  She loved the Lord and was a devoted member of St. Mark Baptist Church and Mount Neboh Baptist Church of Harlem, NY, where she actively participated as an usher and senior choir member. No one could resist her cooking and her sweet potato pies, a favorite of family and friends.

She was predeceased by two sons, Tyrone and Earl Cooper.

She leaves to cherish her precious memories: her husband, Robert E. Addison; three daughters: Julia Mae Mountain and Geraldine Ann Norris, both of Columbia, SC and Regina Annette Cooper Cruz of New York, NY; two sons, Melvin and Victor Alexander, both of New York NY; four sisters: Mary Posey of Eastover, SC, Vicie Lee Sims of Gadsden, SC, Ida Wright and Geneva Williams; three brothers: Roland Simuel of Gadsden, SC, Leroy Simuel of Hopkins, SC, Turner Simuel of Baltimore, MD; son-in-law, William Norris, daughters-in-law, Tashima Alexander and Monique Carroll; seventeen grandchildren, twenty-two great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
