Mrs. Martha Mae Irvin Haynes was born in the Blythewood community of Richland County, South Carolina on December 26, 1923 to James and Daisy Green Irvin. She departed this life on Sunday, December 3, 2017.

Mrs. Martha was educated in the public schools of Richland County, South Carolina. At an early age, she joined Round Top Baptist Church in Blythewood. While attending Round Top, Mrs. Martha taught Sunday School. Mrs. Martha was employed with the Columbia Hospital, the State Sanatorium, Crafts-Farrow State Hospital, and Mt. Vernon Mills.

She was predeceased by her parents, James and Daisy Green; husband, Willie Haynes; daughter, Willie Mae “Boo” Waiters; son, John “Cricket” Haynes; brothers: Joe Irvin, James Irvin, Jr., Larry Irvin, and Jess Bailey; sisters, Josephine Ellison and Ellean Nelson; and grandson, Ronnie Haynes.

Mrs. Martha Haynes leaves to cherish precious memories, her daughter, Dorothy M. Grant (John Henry) of Columbia, South Carolina; four sisters: Hattie Teal, Wilhelmina Beyers (John), Lucinda Bailey, and Noralean Bailey, all of Charlotte, North Carolina; and three brothers: John Ervin of Columbia, South Carolina, Leroy Irvin, Henry Bailey, both of Charlotte, North Carolina. She also leaves eleven grandchildren: Hosea Haynes, Belva Edmond of Columbia, South Carolina, Gwendolyn Etheredge (Ernest), Doris Seals (Gregory Sr.) of Blythewood, South Carolina, Mack Arthur Lewis, Rena’ Haggins (Tyrone), LaShon Portee (Roberto), Dorothy A. Haynes, Michael Haynes, Reginald Haynes (Wanda), and Shanell Grant, all of Columbia, South Carolina; twenty-four great-grandchildren: Hosea, Nicole, Shantae, Ivan, Brittany, Gregory Jr. (Arrie), LaBrandon, Dominique, Jatavia, Taylor, Trey (Renee), Ferris, Tyshekia, Christopher, Anthony, Lakicha, Shamica (Eugene), Reginald, Briana, Shan’Tiara, Tycadja, Dayterrius, Michael, Maria, Jolisa and Lashonda; seventeen great-great grandchildren: Quincy, Quenton, Naiya, Kingston, Javon, Micah, Macala, Namayah, Anthony, Monet’, Islan, Addison, Ivan, Iliea, Noah, Zyasia, and KyaZhuan: five great-great-great grandchildren; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
