Mrs. Juanita H. Davis was born July 11, 1936 in Waverly Hall, Georgia. She was called home October 21, 2016 at Palmetto Richland Hospital.

Juanita was predeceased by her parents, Sam and Charlie Lee Hollis Pearson, and maternal grandparents, Clarence and Sofie Hollis.

Juanita worked at Sears Department Store where she served as the store’s first Black department manager. She retired from Sears after more than 30 years. At the time of her passing, she was employed as a Foster Grandparent at Killian Elementary School in Richland County School District Two and had been there for almost 13 years.

Sister Davis was a longtime, dedicated member of Greenview First Baptist Church. She served as a Sunday School Teacher, a Vacation Bible School Teacher, a member of the Willing Workers Circle and Ward 10. She loved her church and her Lord. She also served as a member of the New Castle Concerned Citizens, volunteered with Mended Hearts at Providence Hospital and at the Women’s Shelter. Juanita lived the life she taught about and had an influence on everyone she touched. She was an amazing woman of God.

Those left to cherish her fond memories, grieve her passing and celebrate her home going are her ex-husband, Joseph P. Davis; their three daughters: Garnett Davis-Shepard, Annette Davis-Etheredge (Larry) and Teyona Joy Davis; and two grandchildren, Jesyka Chavis and Kristopher J. Myers. She also leaves two special friends, Betty Forney and Brenda Chavis; a cousin, Pete Hollis; a special niece, Janyce K. Davis; and a host of other loving relatives and dear friends, all of whom will treasure the friendship shared with Juanita.
