Mrs. Joy Denise Williams-Patterson was born October 31, 1958 in Columbia, South Carolina. She was the daughter of Mrs. Nellie B. Williams and the late Mr. Benjamin Frank Williams.  Preceding her in death was her husband, Raymond Patterson.

Joy attended the public schools of Richland County School District One.  She has an identical twin, Joyce, and identical twin sisters, Linda and Brenda. Although she and all her siblings were often together, the two sets of twins shared a special connection that couldn’t quite be explained. In their younger days, they would be walking in the neighborhood, and you would hear individuals say, “Here come the Williams twins.” Joy loved the attention.

Joy took pride in dressing up and looking her best, even if she didn’t have plans to be out for the day. She enjoyed going to the beauty salon to ensure that her hair was always beautiful.  She was a very friendly, warm-hearted individual who was always concerned for others. Her favorite hobby was solving giant, 300-word search puzzles.  She was so great at it that she could finish one of these books in a week. When her health began to decline, Joy was fond of watching television shows like, The Young and Restless, Sanford and Son, The Cosby Show, Gun Smoke and Gilligan’s Island.  She was a member of Cleaves Memorial C.M.E. Church.

She was also preceded in death by her brother, Tarapape “Trap” Williams.

Mrs. Joy Denise Williams-Patterson leaves to cherish her precious memory: mother, Nellie B. Williams; brother, Alonzo (Wanda) Williams; sisters: Linda (Willie) Jacobs, Brenda Watts, Joyce (Anthony) Capell; and Vanessa Richardson; and a host of nieces, nephews, other loving relatives and caring friends, all of whom will miss her dearly.
