Jermire Watson Obituary

Retired Sergeant First Class Jermire W. “Jerry” Watson passed away on March 4, 2018 at Richland Memorial Hospital in Columbia due to breathing complications.

Jermire W. “Sonny” Watson was born on April 11, 1939 to the late David Watson and Magnolia Chandler in Yazoo City, Mississippi.

At the tender age of 2 his care was entrusted by his father David Watson and stepmother Lucy Watson after his mother passed away. He attended St. Louis public schools and graduated from Washington Tech High School. He later attended Midlands Technical College in Columbia, SC. He entered in the United States Army in 1957 and retired in 1979. The he started working at Broad River Correctional Facilities in Columbia and also the Greyhound Bus Station for many years before retirement.

He was a very humble and hardworking man and very family oriented. He always had a smile and enjoyed life. He was a great husband, father, brother, friend, uncle, and fighter. His charismatic personality will be missed by our family and everyone who loved him.

He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife: Mrs. Lillie Watson, children Antoinne Watson (Antoinne Watson Jr.) of St. Louis, MO, Torey Williams and Christian Brown of Columbia, SC, Latonya Fuller of Columbia, SC, Leslie Fuller of Maryland; sisters and brothers: Nellie (Charlie) Fogg of St. Louis, MO, Henry Watson of Sacromento, CA; 13 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Jermire is preceded in death by 2 brothers and 5 sisters.
