James Strother, Jr.
December 7, 1935 ~ June 22, 2017 (age 81) 81 Years OldJames Strother, Jr. was born December 7, 1935 in Columbia, South Carolina. He was the beloved son of the late James Sr. and Cornellia Smith Strother. He passed away at his home on June 22, 2017. He was 81.
“Lil James”, as he was affectionately known, was educated in the public schools of Richland County. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1957. After serving his country for two years, he received an Honorable Discharge and later went to work for the South Carolina Department of Mental Health at Crafts-Farrow State Hospital. He retired after 20 years of dedicated service.
James was a loving husband and devoted father and was cherished by family and friends alike. He always enjoyed life to the fullest. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by brothers, Paul and Frank Strother; his son, Paris Strother; a grandson, Keyon Strother; and his sister-in-law, Rose George.
Mr. Strother leaves to cherish precious memories and special moments, his loving wife, Margie Ruth Addison Strother; three sons, Kenneth, Vincent and Kevin Strother; and a sister, Cornilius Strother Rogers, all of Columbia, South Carolina. He also leaves to mourn his passing and continue his legacy, ten grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other loving relatives and dear friends.
