Ms. Hattie Bell Odom-Ellison was born on February 28, 1941 in Gasden, South Carolina to the late Samuel and Cleo Odom. She entered into eternal rest on March 21, 2017 at Providence Hospital.

She attended public schools in Gasden, South Carolina. She later attended Benedict College where she earned her degree in Nursing. Ms. Hattie was a member of New William Street Baptist Church, where she was a faithful member until her illness. One of her favorite songs was “Come In This Room”. She retired from State Park Health Center after 30 years of dedicated service. One of her most know sayings she would say to her grandchildren to make them behave is “wait a minute”. They would get joy out of that.

She was preceded in death by two siblings, David Odom and Peaola Odom-Griffin.

She is survived by three sons: Elder Joseph (Alice) Ellison, Julius (Barbara) Ellison, Jr., and Keith Allen Ellison all of Columbia, South Carolina; nine grandchildren: LaKesha Michelle Williams, Elizabeth Julia Ellison, Alisha Shanta Tucker, Carlos D. Ellison, Julius Tyree Ellison, Keith Allen Ellison, Jr., Breanna Hampton, Diamond Ellison, and Kierra Lataish Ellison; four great-grandchildren: Nehemiah J. Ellison, Emmanuel A. Boadie, Treylen McDaniel, and Londyn J. Johnson; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
