Mr. Fleming Ray Anderson, Jr. was born September 23, 1954 in Winnsboro, South Carolina. He was the beloved son of Frances B. Anderson of Columbia, South Carolina and the late Fleming Anderson, Sr. He departed this earthly life on Sunday, May 14, 2017 at Palmetto Health Richland in Columbia.
Fleming attended the public schools of Fairfield County. He began his career at Richtex Brickyard Company in Columbia, and later retired from the Coca-Cola Bottling Company after 15 years of hard work and dedicated service.
“Junior,” as he was affectionately called by family and friends, was a loving father, grandfather, son, brother and uncle. He always lit up the room whenever he entered. He loved to sing, fish, dance, socialize and cook. He had a distinctive singing voice that commanded attention. He would often be heard humming a beautiful tune that resounded in the air. He also had a keen sense of humor. If you asked him a question, one of favorite answers was: “Is a fat baby heavy?”
Junior leaves to cherish fond and precious memories: his three loving children: Christopher and Fleming Anderson, III, both of Columbia, South Carolina, and Tiffany (Michael) Edmonds of Winnsboro, South Carolina; eight grandchildren: Brandy, Kiara, DeAndre, Kenya, Regina, Andrea, Brittany and Chris Jr.; his loving mother, Frances B. Anderson; a brother, Virgil L. Anderson, and four sisters: Jacqueline (Dennis) Gadson, V. Gail (Ronald) Hopkins, Angela A. Hall and Chartsice (Kenneth) McCray, all of Columbia, South Carolina; his uncle and close friend, Moses Brown; and a host of aunts, other uncles, nieces, nephews, other loving relatives and caring friends, all of whom will miss him dearly and join the family in sharing the grief caused by his departure. We rejoice in knowing that he is in a resting place.
