Mrs. Eva Ball Archie passed away peacefully after a short illness, at her son’s home on December 9, 2017. She was 96 years old.

Eva Bell, as she was affectionately known, was born August 14, 1921 in Blair, South Carolina to the late Walter and Carrie Jones. She received and believed in the Lord Jesus Christ at an early age.

She was united in matrimony to Horace Archie, Sr. To this union, the couple welcomed five children into their home, four boys and one girl. Horace and Eva set about teaching them compassion, hard work, and education that would forge their eventual careers in life.

Her surviving children will always remember her as being small in stature but very driven, outgoing, and brilliant, not to mention a well-dressed, dignified woman that spoke her mind at any given moment. Yet, she was the mother who encouraged them to pursue their dreams and love the Lord with all their hearts.

Mrs. Eva Bell truly loved the Lord, and it was displayed through her active membership and dedication to the Greenview First Baptist Church. Her health would ultimately slow her down and not allow her to participate as the dedicated member of the Randolph Missionary Circle and the Senior Musical Choir as she once was.

She was predeceased by her husband, Horace Archie, Sr.; sons, Douglas and Robert Archie, and daughter, Annie Mae Black of Columbia, South Carolina.

She leaves to cherish precious memories, her two loving sons, Horace (Denise) Archie and Booker (Glenda) Archie of Columbia, South Carolina; seven grandsons and four granddaughters; daughter-in-law, Vonetta Archie, and son-in-law, Robert Black; and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other loving relatives.
