Ms. Emma B. Parker, 88, was born September 1, 1928 in Eastover, South Carolina. She was the daughter of the late Lillian Parker McCants. She departed this life on Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at Palmetto Health Richland in Columbia, South Carolina.

Emma attended the public schools of Richland County. She left South Carolina at the age of 24, making Bronx, New York her home for 58 years. Emma went on to become a nurse with the Bronx Municipal Hospital Center, where she served faithfully in the pediatric department for 40 years. She received the Nurse of Distinction Award in 1993.

Since August 2013, due to declining health, Emma had been residing with her nephew and his wife, Robert and Myrtle Parker, in Gadsden, South Carolina.

Ms. Parker accepted Christ into her life at a very early age. Her love for God was evident by the love she showed to others. Though physically Emma will be with us no more, her loving and kind spirit will live on in the hearts and lives of all those who loved and knew her.

She was predeceased by her mother, Lillian Parker McCants, and two brothers, Benjamin Sr. and Milon Parker.

Those left to cherish Emma’s fond and precious memories are her loving family members, including a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, all of whom join the family in sharing the grief caused by her departure.
