Mr. Elijah Scott was born April 10, 1938 in Wedgefield, South Carolina. He was the beloved son of the late David Scott, Sr. and Flossie Oliver Scott of Sumter, South Carolina. Elijah departed this earthly life on Thursday, September 14, 2017 at the WJB Dorn VA Medical Center in Columbia. He was also predeceased by his three brothers, David Jr., Thomas and Joseph Scott, and two sisters, Louise Scott Anderson and Juanita Scott.

Elijah attended Lincoln High School, and, shortly thereafter, enlisted in the United States Army. He served two tours in Vietnam, first with The 1st Infantry Division (Big Red 1) and then with the 101st Airborne Division (Screaming Eagles). On November 1, 1975, he retired honorably after serving his country for more than 20 years.

After his military service, he pursued a career with the South Carolina Department of Corrections as an Adult Corrections Officer at the Kirkland and Manning facilities. He went to work for the U.S. Postal Service as a mail handler, retiring in April 2001.

Mr. Elijah Scott leaves to cherish his precious memories his wife, Malvinia Washington Scott; five children: Edward (Mary) Scott, Jacqueline M. Scott, Dionne (Orlando Jr.) Scott Lennon, Michael Scott, and Elijah J. Scott; five grandchildren: Gary D. Scott, Whitney M. Scott, Ormon D. Lennon, Elijah M. Scott and Londyn J. Scott; and a great-granddaughter, Malaysia E. Scott. He also leaves two brothers, Isaac (Alfreda) Scott and Samuel Scott, and a host of nieces, nephews, other loving family and friends, all of whom will miss him dearly.
