Edward Perry was born August 17, 1942 in Columbia, South Carolina. He was the son of the late Hattie Myers and Robert Perry. He departed this life on Monday, May 15, 2017 peacefully at his home.
He attended Public Schools in Columbia, South Carolina and completed his education at C. A. Johnson High School. After graduation he moved to New York City, where he met and later married Barbara Perry.
Edward entered the U. S. Army, where he served in Vietnam. He earned the “Bronze Star” medal and many other ribbons of decorations, while serving his country.
Edward was employed with the New York City Postal Service and later moved back to Columbia, South Carolina, where he was employed at Moncrief Army Hospital on Fort Jackson until he retired.
Edward’s favorite hobby was fishing. He was very outgoing and friendly.
Mr. Perry leaves to cherish precious memories his wife, Barbara Perry; daughters, Tonya Perry and Carrie (Marcus) Oree; two sons, Edward (Selene) Perry and Basil Greenslade; sisters: Mildred Felder, Kutura Perry, Angela Perry, Daniel Perry, and Gloria Grant; brothers: Elvian Myers, Phillip Myers, Warren Grant, and David Grant; thirteen grandchildren, one great-granddaughter, and a host of other loving relatives and friends who will miss him dearly.
