Sister Diana M. Boyce Black was born September 19, 1954. She was the daughter of the late Henry and Saint Elizabeth Boyce of Columbia, South Carolina. She departed her life on June 17, 2017 at Palmetto Health Richland. She was married to the late Johnny Wallace Black of Charlotte, North Carolina.

She attended Carver Elementary, W.A. Perry Middle and C.A. Johnson High Schools, graduating in 1972.

At an early age, she became a member of the United House of Prayer for All People, under the leadership of the late Bishop W. McCollough. She served on several auxiliary boards, to include: the McCollugh Flower Girls, the McCollough Maids, the Youth Choir, the McCollough Escorts and the Holy Land State Mass Choir. She was known for being a lead vocalist of the songs “If I Perish”, “I’ll Make It” and “Fill My Cup”.

Diana was employed by the South Carolina Department of Mental Health for ten years until her unexpected retirement in December 1989 due to health reasons.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Albert Boyce, and sister, Eartha Mae Boyce.

Those who will forever cherish precious memories of Diana are: her daughter, Master Sergeant Courtney (Major Antwan) Austin, and three grandchildren: Micah, Caleb and Gabrielle Austin, all of Leavenworth, Kansas; and her brothers, Johnny and Henry Boyce, and sisters, Linda Boyce and Sharon Mack, all of Columbia, South Carolina. She also leaves to mourn her passing: a sister-in-law, Mamye Barringer of Raleigh, North Carolina; an uncle, Julius Perry of Charlotte, North Carolina; her niece and caregiver, Kenyatta “Your Favorite Niece” Boyce of Columbia, South Carolina; and a host of nieces, nephews, other loving relatives and friends, all of whom will miss her dearly.
